L.I.R.R was written on a Long Island Rail Road car when Daisy arrived in NYC to visit producer Jana Pochop at Berklee Power Station studio. Daisy was in the middle of what would become a 6 year break from playing shows, and was working through writer’s block after 10 years of continual touring, writing, and recording.
Daisy heard this song drop out of the sky and wrote it down-slash-whispered it into a voice memo as quickly as it came. L.I.R.R. is inspired by her past experiences playing shows in the city, the struggle of surviving as a working class independent musician, and the felt-memory of her immigrant ancestors who arrived in the US from Europe in the late 1800s and early 1900s seeking a brighter future.
